Wednesday Pack Activities (9/11/2024)

Adventure Pack

Ruffers, Lou, and Bear were all feeling the heat and moving pretty slowly along the trail today, whether we were in the sun or in the shade. Lucy had more pep in her step, but did fine with the pace set by her packmates. She was entertained by hopping after the occasional grasshopper who jumped across the trail. Lou and Bear were thirsty drinkers. Ruffers shied away, but accepted a bit of water when I tucked the spout under her lip. Lucy poked her nose in and licked at the air while her packmates drank, but she was very uncertain whenever I directed the water toward her. We strolled through Chautauqua Park after coming down the mountain, and Lucy tried to chase a rabbit that scurried off into a nearby bush. The others didn't react.

Variety Pack

Griff, Alfie, Buddy, Archie, Lumi, and Carl walked Goose Creek Greenway from Valmont Park this afternoon. Every so often, Lumi or Archie would slow down to sniff in the grass along the right side of the path, and then the rest of the pack would swoop in to check it out with them. Alfie likes to bulldoze forward after circling around to sniff. Carl and Buddy like to sneak underneath their packmates and through their legs so they can get closer. Griff, Lumi, and Archie remained more or less in formation as they sniffed. Alfie and Archie perked up at the sight of the prairie dogs along the way at the start of the walk, but didn't really react when we encountered them again on the return leg. Buddy woofed at a couple skateboarders who passed by, while the rest of the pack didn't pay them any mind. Buddy and Archie kept their paws to themselves throughout the walk, although Archie tried mounting Lumi, Griff, and Alfie in turn as they loaded back into the packmobile afterwards.
