Wednesday Pack Activities
Adventure Pack
Dylan stopped at the trail head at the foot of the mountain at the Chautauqua. A tug on the leash was insufficient to encourage him to continue, so I walked around behind him and nudged him forward with my leg. Once he got going again, I was able to keep him moving forward. Sputnik and Ruffers didn't help with the effort, as they too were hesitant to make the ascent and were moving especially slowly. Once we got past the first stretch, the pack got into the hiking rhythm; and once we made it to the more shaded trail partway up the mountain, Dylan and Sputnik seemed back in their element. Ruffers still lagged behind, but that is typical for her; another hiker observed, "One member of your crew seems to like stopping to smell the roses." The pack lay in the grass at the Chautauqua Park to cool off after we made our way back down the mountain. I hope we start getting some nice autumn weather soon, before the season of wind and snow hits us.
Variety Pack
Imogene was in a restless and playful mood today. She kept crossing over to Rey and nibbling her ears to try to stir up some play, but Rey didn't really respond. Zoey, Carl, and Rey were all pretty interested in sniffing around in the grass, so we made a number of stops along the Boulder Creek Path to oblige. There was a pair of geese by the Kids' Fishing Pond, who caught the attentions of Carl and Rey as we passed. They were far enough away that the dogs' stares and stiff postures did not elicit any hisses from the geese.
