Tuesday Pack Activities (9/10/2024)
Adventure Pack
Imogene ran ahead on the trail once she was off leash, after we got past the seasonal off-leash stretch. Griff poked around a shorter distance in front of me, Racer, and Arlo. Imogene wasn't too keen on coming back to the group until I squatted down and started giving out pets and scratches to her packmates, at which point she came running over to us. Everyone was happy to receive some treats as we took a brief break in the shade. Everyone except Arlo drank some water from the CamelBak. I did manage to wet Arlo's tongue, but he had no interest in taking more than the absolute minimum possible. He, Racer, and Griff all took a load off in the grass of Chautauqua Park after we came down from the mountain. Imogene remained standing while her packmates lounged in the shade, and she was eager to get moving again.
Variety Pack
Dylan went right into Boulder Creek and lay down at Eben G. Fine Park, at our usual watering spot by the eastern bridge. Alfie only touched a paw in the water, and otherwise remained dry. Carl was in and out. There was a disconcerting smell that seemed to indicate someone had fully relieved themselves somewhere along the bank nearby, so I interrupted Dylan's soak and we headed further down the path. Alfie joined Dylan and Carl in the water when we made another stop at a spot where there wasn't such an odor. I caught a photo of Alfie making a funny face just as he started to shake himself off. The boys all made a lot of stops to sniff and leave their marks along the way. Whenever one was drawn to check something out, the others were all quick to join in.
