Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack

Griff and Carl alerted to some rustling in the bushes in a gulch below the Bluebell-Baird Trail, as we approached the intersection with the Chautauqua Trail. I heard the rustling after Griff and Carl took sentry positions, and it sounded like something pretty big. Carl came back promptly when I called him. Griff lingered, staring down into the brush below for a good long moment, before rejoining me, Carl, Sputnik, and Racer on the trail. Racer and Sputnik both drank a lot of water - each nosing in on the other's turn.

Variety Pack

Mamacita and Zoey led a sniffing party through the field at Eben G. Fine Park at the outset of our walk this afternoon. The dogs rarely react to snakes that slither by on the trail or path when we're walking, but one caught Avo's attention. She watched intently and tried to pull toward it as it slipped into the cover of some tall grass beside the Boulder Creek Path. Zoey also perked up, but I couldn't quite tell if her attention was on the snake in the grass or something else, as she seemed to be looking a little bit further off. Avo was in a very playful mood today. When we stopped by the Kids' Fishing Pond for photos, she kept rolling in the grass and then popping up, dodging around, and trying to wrestle with Rey and Zoey. Rey and Zoey were pretty rambunctious when we stopped at the house before the walk, and Avo played with them then, but they both recognized that a leashed walk wasn't the time or place for those kinds of shenanigans, and rebuffed Avo's prodding invitations.
