Tuesday Pack Activities (5/28/2024)

Adventure Pack

Several hikers commented on how well-behaved the pack was as the dogs hiked in perfect formation on my flanks. When we got a little ways up the mountain, Imogene and Griff enjoyed some time roaming off leash. Griff kept his usual position a short distance ahead of me, Racer, and Arlo; Imogene ran ahead more and then occasionally ran back to check in. Arlo and Racer have accepted that the small stream across Skit Jump Trail is now dried up, and they didn't try to stop there this time.

Variety Pack

Dylan, Ruffers, Carl, and Milo enjoyed strolling around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. We spent a couple minutes at one stop at the end of a fence where the path dips down from the sidewalk on Broadway toward the pond, where the dogs often like to do a lot of sniffing and marking. Other than that, we mostly kept a steady pace, with just a few brief stops for water in the shade. A passerby noted her surprise at how well the dogs all get along. I have to admit, the surprise of people who express that sentiment surprises me in turn, because it has always been my experience that dogs on a walk together generally seem pretty pleased with their canine companions, at least while they are out and about (although some get a bit too excited and try to turn a walk into a play session).
