Adventure Pack

Stretches of Shanahan Ridge are littered with piles of horse manure, and I warily eye the dogs when they sniff at them. If they linger at all, I hurry them along before they decide to roll in it or eat it. Racer has long been one of the pack's less discerning members when it comes to potential consumables, so I've kept an especially close eye on her. So far, so good. Griff and Imogene poked around off leash. Imogene ran around a little bit, but didn't go on any wild sprints like she has often done. They both came right back when it was time to go back on leash as the hike neared an end. Arlo got into a playful mood at one point, and kept bending his body and hopping around to express himself.

Variety Pack

Prairie dogs chirped in the distance as Tozai, Carl, Dylan, and Alfie set out from Valmont Park this afternoon. They were far enough away from the pack that none of the dogs reacted to them. However, a short bit into the walk, we came across a stretch with several mounds right near the path. A prairie dog popped out of one just as we were passing, and it darted by just a few feet in front of us. Tozai made a move for it and narrowly missed snatching it up as it scurried across the pavement to a hole on the other side. Alfie also pulled toward it, but didn't chomp at it like his puppy packmate. Dylan and Carl watched it go by without an overt reaction. I kept a closer eye out on the return pass, as our walk neared an end. Some prairie dogs chirped from nearby mounds, but none attempted to cross our path.
