Tuesday Pack Activities (5/30/2023)
Adventure Pack
Dylan and Racer made the most of our pit stop at the stream where it crosses the Saddle Rock Trail, before we headed up Gregory Canyon. Griff and Imogene splashed through and then sniffed around in the brush, not as water-focused as their black-coated packmates. Imogene wandered off the trail and down into the canyon a lot. I wondered whether she would come back with the piece of bone that the pack was so into last week, but she always returned empty-mawed. We made another stop at the stream on the return leg, and this time Dylan surprisingly stayed on dry land, giving me a look to let me know he was eager to head back. The rest of the pack took a quick dip and then we finished up our hike through the Chautauqua Meadow.
Variety Pack
Lou joined Petie, Zoey and Carl at the Valmont Dog Park this afternoon. There were a few other dogs there, but the mood was pretty mellow. Petie and Lou took interest in a Pitbull named Hank and then later a Husky named Swiper. Lou made some playful dodges with Swiper while Petie tried to decide whether to play or just boss Swiper around. He was leaning toward bossing him around so I called him over to allow Lou to have some fun, but their play was short-lived and then they moved on to other things. Carl was insistent that I find a ball for him to fetch. There weren't as many scattered around the park as usual, but I eventually came across one. That kept Carl entertained through the rest of the visit, with Zoey occasionally swooping in to snatch the ball up for herself.
