Thursday Pack Activities (9/5/2024)

Adventure Pack

Racer, Arlo, Griff, and Rey sniffed their way through Chautauqua Park and all along Baseline Trail this morning. I guess the lower trails of Chautauqua see a lot of foot traffic, so it is rich with interesting scents. Arlo was feeling a strong urge to kick up dirt, and did so after almost every stop he made to mark something. Griff also did a bit, but less dramatically than Arlo. A sparrow was hopping and flitting along the trail with a small lead on us, and I was surprised that Rey didn't react to it at all. When she was younger, she used to jump at every bird perched nearby, let alone an active one at ground level. Rey and Racer were both pretty thirsty when we took a water break after ascending Bluebell-Baird. Arlo and Griff took a pass.

Variety Pack

Dylan and Carl walked the CU South Campus trails and Tantra Park this afternoon, with on-and-off cloud cover. Dylan sought the shade of trees all the way and we took some paths through the grass rather than staying on the sidewalk, to maximize our coverage. Dylan enjoyed laying down in some shaded, grassy spots along the way. Meanwhile, Carl's nose was being put to work and it drew him to veer off from our course numerous times.
