Thursday Pack Activities (6/20/2024)
Adventure Pack
Rey, Racer, Arlo, and Griff all grazed on grass along the edge of the stream once we were up the mountain on Saddle Rock Trail. A passing hiker said they looked like a bunch of cows, munching away at the greenery. Arlo again lay down with his neck stretched out in the shallow stream, maximizing body-to-water contact. When we came to the stream again on our way down, at a different point near the Gregory Canyon trail head, Rey was clumsy in scrambling over the rocks and logs, wiggling with excitement as she ran. She managed to catch herself each time she stumbled, but she sure made it look dicey. Arlo and Racer chilled in the stream and Griff wandered ahead a bit to sniff around.
Variety Pack
We were about to head out for our walk when the hail storm hit, so we waited it out at the house. For the first time in memory, Dylan - who tends to have a grumpy attitude toward new and younger pack members - didn't grumble a peep at Alfie in the car. I think it has helped that the two of them have started walking together in the afternoons rather than only seeing each other in passing between activities. Prairie dogs were out and about along Goose Creek Greenway again, although not in the numbers they were the other day. Lumi, Yoshi, and Alfie all perked up at the sight of them, but nobody made any lunges today, even though some of the prairie dogs were quite close to the path. Carl was really interested in sniffing the grassy strip beside the path, and his packmates were all eager to pull over and check things out with him whenever he stopped.
