Thursday Pack Activities (4/4/2024)

Adventure Pack

Racer, Griff and Alfie headed a short way up Royal Arch and then back to the lower trails of the Chautauqua. Griff didn't spot any bobcats today, but one of the volunteers at the trail head was interested to hear about our Tuesday sighting. Racer and Alfie were thirsty when we came to a spot on the trail that crosses a small stream; Griff didn't need the water. Alfie leapt at a grasshopper that landed on the trail nearby, but I reigned him in as the grasshopper promptly hopped away.

Variety Pack

A squirrel at Martin park caught Alfie's attention at the beginning of our walk. He grumbled and pulled at the leash for a moment before accepting that I wasn't going to let him chase after it. Carl and Arlo weren't interested in the squirrel. The two of them just wanted to find places to sniff and mark. In an ironic turn, Alfie got tagged by Arlo when Alfie leaned down to sniff a spot where Arlo had just lifted his leg. It has usually been Alfie who I have to worry about tagging other dogs, given how he towers over them! I used some water from the CamelBak to rinse Alfie's ear off, which caused him to try to dodge away more effectively than Arlo's stream had done.
