Thursday Pack Activities (11/14/2024)
Adventure Pack
While most of the snow from last week has melted away, there is still a fair amount on the farthest stretch of the Flatirons Loop trail at the Chautauqua. Racer and Arlo enjoyed chomping on it as we made our way through the area. Meanwhile, Rey was running around ahead of us and Griff was maintaining his usual post with a small lead on the rest of us. We came by a Husky and her human during the return stretch of the hike, by the picnic tables just off the trail to the Royal Arch. The pack politely waited by the side of the trail; however, the Husky lingered in place. I offered a treat, as I was distributing them to the pack, and tossed one over to her. Rey and Griff then approached to sniff hello. After a little sniffing, I guess the Husky decided she wasn't a fan and gave an uninviting bark, which earned a bark back from Rey and Arlo, and the Husky moved on up the trail with an apology from her human for the lapse in manners.
Variety Pack
Nelly, Rey, and Lucy caught sight of a squirrel atop the wall lining the back yards along Bear Creek Greenway. Lucy pulled the most; Rey did a little at first but then remained in place; Nelly didn't pull but instead whimpered to convey her interest in the sighting. Meanwhile, Carl and Dylan couldn't have cared less; however, the roles were reversed when we came to the mile-marker boulder and surrounding rock pile, where Carl and Dylan were the ones who were intently focused while the ladies waited around for them to finish their business.
