Wednesday Pack Activities
Adventure Pack
Sputnik, Ruffers, and Dylan were all possessed with an intense interest in sniffing around the trail head at the Shanahan South Fork this morning. Even though the Mesa Trail has been less busy than some other parts of the Chautauqua, it has still been pretty bustling compared to usual; so, I decided to bring the pack to Shanahan Ridge a bit early. The packs are always especially interested in sniffing around during their first few outings on a new trail, and today was certainly no exception. Every two feet, someone was moving like a homing missile toward the next bush or tuft of grass. There was a large herd of cattle on the other side of the fence, but the dogs were too wrapped up to even take notice, with all the smells they were finding in their immediate vicinity.
Variety Pack
Imogene wanted to play with Rey at various points during our walk on the Bear Creek Path, but Rey was more interested in sniffing the grass and chewing up twigs. Eventually, Imogene stopped jumping on Rey and started trying to figure out what Rey was so interested in. At one point, she looked up at me with a goofy, expectant grin, as if to say, "I don't get it. Why isn't Rey playing?" I shrugged, and Imogene sniffed a bit more at the grass around Rey.
