Adventure Pack
Griff, Alfie and Rey headed up Mesa Trail at the Chautauqua today. The trail head and Bluebell Road were moderately busy, but it was quieter on the mesas. At one point, Rey headed off over the ridge down toward Skunk Canyon. She wasn't coming when I called, and a moment later I detected the eponymous odor of the area. When she eventually came back to the trail with us, I was relieved to find that the smell didn't seem to be on her. Griff was off leash too, but didn't head down toward the canyon with Rey. He stuck with me and Alfie on the trail, and avoided any odiferous encounters.
Variety Pack
The cloud-spotted blue skies made for a beautiful backdrop as Carl, Dylan, Tozai, Griff and Alfie walked around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. Everyone was in a very sniffy mood, so we made frequent stops. Some tufts of grass required particularly thorough investigation. Tozai didn't tend to mark spots like his packmates. Carl, on the other hand, was the most diligent leg-lifter of the bunch. Dylan kept up a good pace throughout the walk, even on the uphill climb toward Foothills Community Park. Griff and Alfie also kept up well after having already hiked with Rey for today's Adventure Pack.
