Adventure Pack
Rey rushed ahead when she went off-leash on our Chautauqua hike today. Meanwhile, Bear lingered further behind. He and Ruffers were taking their time poking along the trail and backtracking to investigate scents we had already passed. Every so often, Bear would go catch up to Rey in the lead. We practiced recall when other hikers came along the trail, and everyone was happy to munch on some treats. Rey got excited about something down in the brush-filled ravine by the junction of the Bluebell Baird and Chautauqua trails. There was a big pile of bear scat a short way down Chautauqua Trail, right by where Rey and her packmates had gotten worked up last Thursday, confirming my suspicions.
Variety Pack
Carl, Lou, Alfie, and Dylan walked around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. With the high around 80 and the skies heavily overcast, it felt like one of the handful of coolest days we've had since June. Without the sun beating down, Dylan wasn't panting as hard. The rest of the pack was hardly panting at all. Everyone wanted to stop and sniff many times along the way. We saw a small herd of deer at Wonderland Lake Park. Alfie made a lunge toward the nearest one as it hopped away to join its friends. He contained himself better when we saw a rabbit a little later on. The others all stayed mellow despite the wildlife.
