Monday Pack Activities (7/8/2024)
Adventure Pack
Nelly leaned down to the ditch from the bank while Griff, Bear, and Rey all waded around for a minute, on our way up the mountain. We stopped at the overlook by the bench just below the base of the red rocks formation, to snap our pack photo. It was a beautiful day - sunny but not too hot. Griff, Bear, and Rey all hopped into the ditch again on our way down the mountain; after taking a drink, Nelly got a spray from the CamelBak, to wet her neck and back. We walked up Boulder Creek Path a bit, and the pack relished the shade and cool breeze beneath the big tree just before the bridge on the way up the canyon.
Variety Pack
Lou, Kona, Lucy, Carl, Alfie, and Dylan strolled Goose Creek Greenway to the eastern stretch of Boulder Creek Path, from Valmont Park, this afternoon. There were rabbits out among the prairie dogs today. Kona, Alfie, and Lucy all started to pull upon catching their first glimpse of a rabbit who raced across the path ahead of us. We took a moment to calm down and refocus. Alfie responded pretty well, but Kona and Lucy were still on the lookout for rodents. Carl, Dylan, and Lou didn't react at all, and dutifully trotted along in place. The beginning of the walk was well-shaded, as was the farthest stretch, but the sun was on us in between. Dylan was feeling the heat, and I doused him with some water to help cool him.
