Adventure Pack
The day got hot quickly, with temps already in the 90's when the pack set out. Lumi spent as much time as he could submerged in Boulder Creek. Rey, Bear, and Lucy all got wet as well, but didn't linger in the water the way Lumi did; instead, they sniffed around the banks and nibbled on some of the tall grass there. Of course, Lumi flopped down into the dirt immediately after his first dip. Thankfully, he rinsed off on later stops. A squirrel near the Kids' Fishing Pond caught the attentions of Rey, Lucy, and Lumi as it stood at the base of a nearby tree. Nobody tried to pounce, but they were alert and started pulling a bit until we passed by. An off leash dog in Central Park in front of the library ran up to us, barking, and the pack remained calm, which was a nice contrast to the events of a couple weeks ago, when Rey and Bear were the ones misbehaving towards a passing dog.
Variety Pack
Lou, Archie, Alfie, Carl, Nelly, and Dylan traveled Boulder Creek Path with heavy cloud cover which made it feel far cooler than it was for the Adventure Pack. Tongues did not protrude very far as everyone's panting was light. Still, most of the dogs enjoyed taking a dip in the water. Dylan and Lou both lay down in the creek to soak their bellies. A human friend of Alfie's recognized him at Eben G. Fine Park and said hello. Right after that, a friendly dog trotted up to the pack and everyone got pretty tangled in their efforts to greet; thankfully, everyone maintained a calm and polite demeanor as I worked to shuffle them back into formation.
