Bonus Pack
Gidget, Blu, Racer, and Arlo strolled at Wonderland Lake this morning with a cool breeze and plenty of cloud cover. Blu and Racer initiated most of our stops along the way, and Arlo and Gidget were happy to poke around in the grass along with them. Arlo perked up at some rustling in the weeds as we walked the path that dips down beside Broadway. Steps later, Blu jumped toward some red-winged blackbirds who were hanging out on the path ahead. Then, the dogs' attentions turned to a rabbit who was hanging out a bit further ahead before it bolted into the tall grass. After that flurry of wildlife, the rest of the walk was pretty quiet.
Adventure Pack
Stormy skies threatened as we set out for our hike today, and Ruffers was wary to come along at first. Aside from a very light sprinkle, it ended up just being cloudy. Ruffers and Lumi waded in the ditch on the way up to the Red Rocks trails while Bear and Rey chased each other around and splashed through the water. Bear and Rey got too excited about a dog we passed on a narrow stretch of trail across a steep slope while the two of them were walking on leash with me a bit later on. Bear leapt forward with a throaty woof to try to instigate a chase in a manner that lacked social grace, and Rey pulled alongside him. The trail was uneven with loose gravel, causing me to lose my footing and stumble a few steps as the other dog skirted by. After that, we pulled over to a lookout spot beside the trail and I had everyone sit for a minute. A different off-leash dog came by behind us and everyone got a treat as they sat and stayed calm. It had been a while since Bear made a move like that while on leash and I can't remember the last time Rey pulled like that, but I'll be taking care to manage passing/greeting situations more closely with them for the time being. We finished the outing by walking through Eben G. Fine Park, where a young boy asked to pet the dogs and everyone was very sweet. Various people walking Boulder Creek Path commented on how nice and well-behaved the pack was, which was a welcome contrast to the earlier encounter when I was called a very unkind name by the man walking with the dog toward whom Bear and Rey pulled, after I apologized to him for the moment of unruliness.
Variety Pack
As I was letting the dogs out one-by-one from the packmobile, I heard Dylan start to growl behind me. When I looked where he was focused, I saw a white and orange cat approaching from the other side of the parking lot. We stepped over to the grassy park, where Lou wanted to linger for some time. Meanwhile, the cat decided to recline right under the packmobile. Dylan continued to eye it with quiet disapproval, and Lumi watched with curiosity. Alfie, Carl, and Lou didn't take particular notice of the feline presence. Eventually, Lou let us get moving at a steady pace down Bear Creek Greenway and the pack enjoyed a nice walk.
