Monday Pack Activities (6/26/2023)

Adventure Pack

Dylan and Milo got into Boulder Creek for a good soak before we headed to the trails at The Peoples' Crossing. Avo and Bear danced around on the boulders at the edge of the water but refrained from getting in. They took the next chance they got as we started our ascent toward the Anemone Trail. It was the pack's first trip to the updated trail. There are a lot of switchbacks now, making for a flatter, longer hike than it used to be. There were a lot of shady patches, which the pack appreciated. on our way back down, Dylan started short-cutting down the steep banks between switchbacks. The paths he chose to take looked pretty treacherous, and I couldn't tell whether the move was motivated by laziness, adventurousness, or some mixture of the two.

Variety Pack

It was a hot afternoon as the pack walked Bear Creek Greenway. Everyone kept in formation pretty well as we went, for the most part. Lou made a few stubborn stops when she wanted to sniff around in the grass and pee. Archie and Buddy got a bit worked up when we passed by other dogs. Archie was especially intense in displaying his desire to run up and say hello. Every now and then, Alfie stumbled over Buddy when Buddy tried to shift positions underneath him. But most of the time, we kept on the move with minimal chaos. Milo, Lou, Buddy and Archie all happily took water from the Camelbak spout during our several breaks in the shade. Alfie avoided it. I managed to squirt a little into the side of his mouth a few times, but he didn't have any desire to try lapping it up despite the example of his packmates.
