Monday Pack Activities
Adventure Pack
A couple other hikers warned that their dogs weren't friendly, as I was heading up the Chautauqua Trail with Ruffers and Dylan off leash. I called them over to me and Sputnik before the other hikers reached us, and they did a very good job of listening and leaving the other dogs alone. The hikers with the unfriendly dogs kindly addressed the pack as they passed, to tell them how good they all were. The trails were moderately busy today - we saw a number of humans, but hardly any other dogs after that early encounter.
Variety Pack
Dylan, Zoey, Carl, and Rey headed to the Foothills Dog Park this afternoon. We did several laps around the perimeter of the park, sometimes lingering by the shelter where park visitors tend to congregate, near the entrance. Zoey played some fetch early on. Carl took up the reigns later, while Zoey mingled with people under the shelter. Rey chased a rambunctious puppy around, and then later made friends with a white-coated, one-year-old Pit Bull who liked to wrestle. Dylan was a bit tuckered out after already going on the hike this morning. He mostly just followed me as I walked around, or hung out at the shelter and watched me from a distance. Rey's Pit Bull buddy showed some interest in Dylan, but Dylan just grumbled at him. The pup was persistent and managed to wear Dylan down enough that he stopped grumbling and allowed the pup to sniff and lick at his face, but that was as much as Dylan was willing to give in the encounter.
