Monday Pack Activities (3/13/2023)

Adventure Pack

The pack had a new member today: Bear! Bear is a very gentle and sweet 4-year-old German Shepherd mix who is already friends with Avo. I was happily surprised to see Dylan immediately accept our new packmate, since he usually grumbles about new dogs in the packmobile when he first hops in. Instead, he just hopped right in, sat down, and let Bear sniff him without making a peep. Bear woofed once at Ruffers when I opened the door for her to hop in with the rest of the pack. He was very interested in sniffing her once she hopped in. On the trails, Dylan and Bear both enjoyed rubbing in the icy snow pack - Dylan wiggled around on his back, as usual, while Bear shouldered down and rubbed his neck in the snow without fully flopping over. Avo made the most of her off leash time by running around the Mesa nonstop. I think Bear was a bit envious as he watched his friend running off leash, but he will be able to join her soon with his updated Voice & Sight Control Tag on the way.

Variety Pack

Rey, Lou and Racer headed to the Boulder Creek Path for our afternoon walk. Racer had her nose to the ground the whole time as she pulled off the side of the path towards bushes, trees and any other spots worth checking out. Rey and Lou also did a lot of sniffing early on at The Peoples' Connection and Eben G. Fine Park, but then mostly stuck to the path with me after that. We encountered a couple people cruising down the path on motorized unicycle boards with their Australian Shepherds on leash, and one of the dogs darted right up into Lou's face in an aggressive manner. Lou gave a throaty bark in response but didn't try to retaliate, and the other dog was quickly pulled along as they apologized. Rey and Racer were walking on my other side and didn't make any attempt to involve themselves in the brief encounter. Everyone got some pets and snuggles for behaving themselves well.
