Monday Pack Activities (10/7/2024)
Adventure Pack
Bear, Ruffers, and Rey took their time ascending the Chautauqua Trail this morning. Surprisingly, Ruffers was the one among them who was poking behind the least. Rey had a couple playful outbursts where she started leaping around Bear and chest-butting him. Both times were when she was on leash. When the two of them had off-leash time together, they just sniffed around and didn't run or play. On the way down the mountain, a hiker commented that the dogs were, "Not panting too hard." The very next hiker we passed offered the adage, "Sun's out, tongues out!" It was in fact a relatively cool morning, and the dogs' mouths were open but none of their tongues were actually hanging out.
Variety Pack
Carl, Alfie, Lou, and Dylan were all very excited to visit Valmont Dog Park this afternoon. Carl barked at me until we found a tennis ball for him to fetch. Alfie, Dylan, and Lou all headed for the nearest dogs to greet. Dylan was much more sociable today than on some past dog park visits. There was a black Lab whom he especially liked. He followed him around a bit, and hopped up and punched him on the shoulder a couple times. Alfie found a lot of friends to run and dodge around with. Lou milled around amongst other dogs, but then found her way to the nearest human with love to offer her rather than finding puppy playmates. Carl had some competition for fetching, and I alternated long and short throws so he could beat the other, bigger dog to it sometimes. The poor little guy dove right into the path as I released the ball low from the ChuckIt once, and took it to the face. He whimpered a bit and I checked him out, and then he was right back to insisting that I throw the ball when I placed him back down.
