Adventure Pack
Alfie, Yoshi, and Lou took an easy pace through Chautauqua Meadow and up the mountain today. We passed by the same spot as the pack did yesterday on our way down, but nobody from today's crew took notice of anything in the area. I wonder whether the wildlife moved on, or if Alfie, Yoshi, and Lou were just less attuned to the disturbance than Rey, Racer, and Griff were yesterday.
Variety Pack
Blu and Carl stopped to sniff and mark as often as possible on our walk along Boulder Creek Path this afternoon. Ruffers also made a lot of stops, but was often content with just the sniffing portion. At one point, she stopped by the underpass beside the Kids' Fishing Pond and sat beside the path. She didn't sniff and didn't seem to be focused on anything in particular, but she was resistant to moving on. I squatted down next to her and the rest of the pack just hung out while we gave Ruffers a couple minutes, until she was ready to move on. Lumi joined in sniffing with his packmates here and there but was pretty passive about where we stopped. The one exception was when he paused and stared down at the creek near the end of our walk, at a pocket where the water is particularly stagnant due to a rock barrier that impedes the flow from the creek. I told him we weren't going to go to that spot, and he reluctantly continued on with the rest of the pack. It was almost the end of the walk at that point, and today was one of the mildest days we've had all summer, so we didn't look for another spot to get into the water before we got back to the packmobile. Gidget was along for program with her packmates but only occasionally stepped in to sniff around for herself.
