Friday Pack Activities (11/1/2024)
Adventure Pack
The Chautauqua trails were bustling today! We encountered many dogs, almost all of whom were on leash. Nelly, Griff, and Yoshi were all very interested in a flock of wild turkeys. Lou didn't react to the fowl. A short while later, Nelly, Yoshi, and Lou watched a herd of deer cross the trail ahead of us. This time, it was Griff who was disinterested. The deer were moving pretty slowly, so we hung out for a few minutes to give them their space, with Nelly whining as she stared at them the whole time. After that, a friendly off-leash dog came over and sniffed hello with everyone, then started hopping around with Yoshi. It was a lively and engaging time on the mountain!
Variety Pack
Ruffers, Carl, and Lumi strolled around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. Ruffers was in her habit of stopping and doubling back to check out scents that only caught her nose a couple moments after we passed them. Carl was right at her side, ready to mark whatever spot Ruffers was drawn to. Lumi sniffed around with his packmates, but with less focused intention. There were some deer lying on the mountainside as we rounded the western edge of the pond, but the dogs didn't take notice of them. Lumi enjoyed a roll in the grass and dead leaves when we lingered in a field at Wonderland Lake Park for a few minutes.
