Friday Pack Activities (10/11/2024)
Adventure Pack
Yoshi, Nelly, Lou, and Alfie headed to the Chautauqua this morning. Nelly was excited to go; she has been more eager and less hesitant to hop into the car with her packmates for her past few outings. She did stop once when our connector trail met the main Chautauqua trail to ascend the mountain, but got moving again as soon as I looped the pack around to come up from behind her. Lou - who was very lazy at the beginning of yesterday afternoon's pack walk - had no problem with keeping up throughout the hike. Alfie and Yoshi were very interested in the dogs we passed, and both tried to pull ahead of me to cross over and get to them. Meanwhile, Nelly didn't pull at all but she softly whined as other dogs walked by. It was so nice hiking with overcast skies and the temperature in the 60's. I think this was the coolest hike we've had in over 4 months! I hope we get a good stretch of this mild fall weather before the winds and cold weather come. I forgot to snap any photos while we were out enjoying the trails today.
Variety Pack
Dylan, Ruffers, Lumi, Blu, Carl, and Gidget all had a pleasant stroll along Goose Creek Greenway from Valmont Park this afternoon, with the mild weather of the morning continuing. It was cool enough that Lumi didn't even try to go to his usual lounge spot on the grassy hill along the way. We stopped right by there anyway, since Blu wanted to sniff around the area and it is a good place to take a photo. Dylan went for a roll and slid down the hill on his back. Carl sniffed around with Blu and the two of them left lifted their legs to leave several scent marks in the grass. Ruffers was pulling ahead and away a bit during much of the walk, which is unusual for her. It was problematic for maintaining formation when she was on the inside and pressing out toward Lumi and Dylan beside her, so I redirected her to the outer wing whenever they got shuffled during a stop. Gidget followed along in place, just going with the flow the whole time.
