Monday Pack Activities
Adventure Pack
We hardly came across anyone at the Chautauqua this morning. The cold, wet weather discouraged a lot of hikers from coming out. Mamacita was on the same page as them, and not too thrilled to be out in the misty rain. She didn't resist hopping out of the car at the trail head, and she trotted along dutifully, but it was written all over her face. Meanwhile, Sputnik, Roger Roger, and Rucksack were happy to be out. On our way back down, we saw a herd of deer crossing the trail about 50 yards ahead. Everyone perked up at the sight. Rucksack and Roger Roger both started whining and kept it up until the deer disappeared over a crest.
Variety Pack
The rain had mostly stopped falling when Zoey and I hit the CU South Campus trails this afternoon. Zoey wandered around, sniffing through the brush while I got mud from the trail caked thicker and thicker on my boots with every step. We came upon a playful German Shepherd with a tennis ball. The Shepherd dropped her ball to sniff hello with Zoey, and Zoey promptly snatched it up to play keep-away. She gave the ball back after a minute, and then continued to run around with the Shepherd for a bit. After that, we came across a black Lab who also carried a tennis ball. The Lab also dropped the ball to sniff hello, and Zoey again snatched it up. However, the Lab wasn't interested in running around, and we continued on after I got Zoey to give the ball up.
